I love traveling, but as a small town girl, navigating heavily populated areas can be frustrating to me. That’s why recently, we found Burnsville & the AmericInn Hotel & Suites a great place to land when visiting the twin cities.
Recently, T and I headed to the Minnesota State Fair! We wanted to stay overnight, but I knew I didn’t want to stay downtown where all the craziness was happening! I knew that staying in Burnsville, MN was perfect for us!
Experience Burnsville, MN
Burnsville, Minnesota, is a suburb located on the southern edge of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) area. It encompasses both the east and west side of I35 and is easy to get to from any direction. It boasts a great variety of attractions, dining options, and shopping!
From skiing at Buck Hill Ski & Snowboard Area to the Ames Center for Performing Arts, you won’t be bored in Burnsville! You don’t have to leave Burnsville to get some great shopping done either! The Burnsville Center boasts over 100 stores and 17 dining options! Plus, you’re in close proximity to places like the Mall of America and the Twin Cities Premium Outlets, if you can’t get enough shopping!
When it’s time to refuel your body, Burnsville is not lacking for delicious places to eat! American cuisine, Asian, Barbecue, Indian, Italian, and more are all available in close proximity to the city center! You’ll find chains and also locally owned spots like Mediterranean Cruise Cafe!
Mediterranean Cruise Cafe
Located near the Ames Center for Performing Arts (and a neat shopping area), you’ll find this Mediterranean gem. This local hot spot has been in business for over 30 years and feature cuisine from Jerusalem, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Italy, Turkey, Greece, and more! The menu is large and offers something for everyone, but the building is even more stunning!
Inside Mediterranean Cruise Cafe, make sure to fully take in your surroundings. You’ll be transported to a Mediterranean country once you walk through the front doors with it’s colorful decor, large chandeliers, and details that give you an authentic experience.
On our visit, T and I were celebrating our anniversary, so of course we had to snag some drinks to cheers our special day! Their sangria grabbed my eye right away and did not disappoint.
Our entrees of Spicy Meat Pasta (for T), and Feta Cheese Pasta with Chicken (for me) were scrumptious! The flavors were fresh, the helpings plentiful, and the warm pita bread didn’t hurt anything! We observed a variety of meals go out while we were there and nothing looked bad! I’d be happy to return sometime soon to try something else!
AmericInn Hotel & Suites – Burnsville, MN
The place to stay in Burnsville is the AmericInn Hotel & Suites. Upon arriving I knew things were going to be good! This great place is situated right between I35E and I35W and super easy to get to as it is situated right along the interstate, but is not loud. You would never guess that it is as close to the freeway as it is. The entire property is clean and well cared for from the outside to every part of the inside. During our visit, we were welcomed promptly, professionally, and checked in efficiently!
Our room was cozy and modern at the same time. Great accommodations of a king sized bed, desk, dorm sized fridge (for my leftovers from Mediterranean Cruise Cafe 😉 ), chair, and more made this place a great place to crash after a long day at the fair. The bed was cozy, the shower hot, and everything was so clean! This is a huge point for me.
In addition to great rooms, the AmericInn of Burnsville offers an indoor pool, business center, gym, and hot breakfast. The breakfast space offers cereal, pastries, hot items (waffles, eggs, bacon), yogurt, and more! Coffee and juice help to make your breakfast a well-rounded one.
The accommodations and service at the AmericInn Hotel & Suites of Burnsville is top notch and makes this a perfect place to land when visiting the twin cities area.

Yes! And their menu was so big was such a great variety that it was so hard to decide!
Burnsville looks like a great spot. I’ve taken a few dog-friendly trips to Duluth, but have not ventured to this area. I have saved your post! Thank you.
Awesome! It really is a great community that gives you the option of a big City without having to be in the thick of it!
The Mediterranian Cruise Cafe was one of the coolest places I have ever eaten. My husband and I decided to go out and eat there after a long day of carpet cleaning and children corraling. It was one of the most fun date nights we have ever had.
It really is so great! Glad you love it as much as we did!
