#TastyTuesday – Meal Planning, Part #1

This past couple of weeks has been a rough one for T & I. Not for us as a couple in marriage, but for eating! Between many activities and events for the boys as well as our own meetings and indecisions, we’ve not been successful planning meals and executing them. I’m embarrassed to admit that our meals have ranged from Subway to Hamburger Helper to steak & potatoes. We’ve been bad about getting meat out of the freezer ahead of time and planning our meal! So, I was dedicated to making a change this weekend.

StrideBox Review: December

When you’re husband sends you a picture in the middle of the day and it’s a stack of boxes waiting for you at your house, you can’t help but get excited! Last week I was thrilled to come home to my December StrideBox. For $16 a month, I get a box of goodies related to running to try out. The absolutely most fun thing about StrideBox is the label on the outside of the box that has a phrase that you get to complete! This month it said, “Eat, Sleep, Run, & _______”. It was easy for me to complete this phrase…I added ” REPEAT”! This month I received the following items in my Box.

Share Your World 2014, Week 49

Ah yes, another week of great questions from Cee at Cee’s Photography!  I love that she does this every week and can’t wait to see what she does in 2015!

What is your preferred hot drink: coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate, or other? Honestly, it depends upon the time of day and my mood.  I love coffee (with flavored creamer) in the morning.  I like tea when I need something “lighter” in the morning!  I attempt to drink around 64oz of water throughout the day! (You can find that post here!)  I love hot chocolate on a cold Saturday or Sunday afternoon (preferably with something “adult” in it!)  and I have to have a glass of milk before bed each night!  Yeah, I “drink” a lot!!

Perfectly Chic or Perfectly Family?

I was counting picture ornaments of the boys the other day.  My SIL makes me one every year!  This is my 5th Christmas with them and I marvel at how much they’ve grown, matured, and changed.  Not only have they grown and changed physically, but they’ve also matured and grown into spectactular young men.  I know that I have grown and changed as well.  Maybe I haven’t grown physically (if you know me, you know how funny that is because I’m incredibly short!), but I know that I’ve grown and changed as a step-mom.  I’ve learned a lot about parenting and being a step-parent, but I digress…

#FitFriday – Feeding Your Body

instaquote-12-12-2014-12-15-22I have learned over the last several years (and it really shouldn’t have been a shock to me) that the healthier I eat, the better I feel. I have more energy, I recover faster from workouts & runs, and overall my body “feels” better. By the time we become adults, we know these things but it’s when you choose to start LIVING this lifestyle that you truly KNOW them.

The Highs & the Lows

I know that I didn’t give birth to R & M and I would never claim them as my biological children. They have a mother, they have that person who gave birth to them and shares their blood. I don’t and I know that and I’m reminded of that daily. However, I do love those boys as though they were biologically mine and I do consider them mine as well! I do parent them; I wash their dirty underwear; I make them meals; put band-aids on; help with homework & projects; get stains out of shirts & jeans; make them clean their rooms; listen to them talk about their day; I buy items because I know they like a specific snack; I think about what foods they like & don’t like when I cook meals; I pick them up from school & practices; I buy them clothes and shoes,; I pay for registration for extra curricular events. In all senses of the word, I am a parent to those boys. Do I do it full-time? Nope! Do I get the lows & the highs of parenting? Absolutely!
