Anything chocolate will be loved in our house and this Fudge Brownie Pie is no exception. It’s the perfect amount of sweet with a rich fudgy center! I’m sure your family will love it as much as mine!
The Recipe
When I first started dating T and attending family get-togethers, I kept hearing about Bushy’s Fudge Brownie Pie. Bushy is the nickname the family has for T’s step-dad! The boys would rave about it prior to family holiday gatherings and we had to make deals about eating their dinners before they got pie! Almost 9 years later and it’s still the most coveted item (followed closely by Bushy’s mashed potatoes) at any family dinner! A couple years ago we snagged the recipe from Bushy and I started randomly making it for my boys. It’s still a treat and not something we have on a regular basis, but it’s loved all the same!
Fudge Brownie Pie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup dark Karo syrup
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
- In a 2 quart saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate
- Remove from the heat and add the sugar, dark Karo syrup, flour, salt, and vanilla, stir thoroughly
- Stir in 3 slightly beaten eggs, pour into pie crust
- Bake for 30-35 minutes
Cooks Notes
- This recipe bakes 1 pie. If it’s just my guys eating the pie, one pie will do, but if you have more than 3-4 eating it, I highly recommend making 2!
- The pie will appear to be slightly underbaked, but make sure to take it out of the oven right away and do not overbake it!
- The favorite way to serve the pie is with Cool Whip on top!
