Yesterday I got the privilege of getting a sneak peak of Natural Plus Nursery in Clear Lake before their open house to the public! This is the second year in a row that I got to get a glimpse of this years plants, shrubs, and trees, but none the less wonderful! (You can read my thoughts from last year HERE!)
Dave and Mary Hopper are second generation owners of Natural Plus Nursery nestled among trees, a railroad, and a creek between Clear Lake and Mason City. Dave’s parents originally started the nursery in 1978 and Dave & Mary took over the business about three years ago. When you arrive at the nursery, you are greeted by either Dave, Mary, one of their fantastic workers, or maybe even Lena, their adorable and energetic lab! One of the many things I love about Natural Plus is how you can tell instantly that it is a family owned and operated business. You feel like family the moment you step on grounds.
I could spend hours roaming between the trees and shrubs taking in all the blooms, the magnificent colors, and the different types of plants. One of the other many things I love about the way Dave and Mary run their business is how well they have everything organized. All the ornamental trees are grouped together, the fruit trees, the shade trees, the evergreen species, etc. It’s really nice that you don’t have to stumble throughout the grounds if you know exactly what you are looking for. The other fantastic thing I love about their set-up is how well labeled everything is. What kind of sun, the height, the width, any special features of the shrub, etc is very clear.
If you’re looking for anything or unsure of what you want or need, Dave and Mary are available to answer all your questions and advise you! And the fact that they are so dang nice is just icing on the cake. But, I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that probably my most favorite part of the nursery this year is all the fantastic metal yard art and the variety of pots and decorations they have available in their a-frame building and surrounding grounds.
But, probably the most exciting part about visiting Natural Plus this year is that Dave & Mary have graciously given the North Iowa Bloggers a $100 gift certificate to give away to our readers, so click below to enter! You won’t be sorry you did!! Also, don’t forget to visit Dave & Mary this year and tell them Katy sent you!!
I love all the metal art they have added! And of course Lena is the perfect nursery dog!
The metal art is pretty fantastic and so is Lena!
The pics you took at the Nursery are amazing. Thanks for coming and thanks so much for taking the time to write such great things about your visit!
Thank you!!! That is so kind of you! Thank you for having us! I can’t wait to return again this weekend!
It was such a great time and I’ll second that I love how they have everything organized. They make it so easy to explore and get inspired!
It was a great time!
Oh my gosh, I’d love to give that dog a big bear hug. What a cutie!
LOL! Lena is pretty cool, but I’ll be honestly she doesn’t sit still long enough for bear hugs!
