Directly across from the Mississippi River, you’ll find Richman’s Cafe in Bellevue, Iowa. They offer that hometown feel with it’s diner style dinning room, friendly service, and delicious food. My personal favorite is The Mess which is hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, and onions. Plus, the coffee is always fresh and hot and they also offer blended iced coffees! Two restaurants in the same town serving up some of the very best breakfasts in the state?! It’s just one of the many reasons why we love Bellevue. Riverview Restaurant is one of our favorite spots for breakfast in Iowa. The portions are huge, the food is absolutely delicious, and the sweet older lady who waits tables is just the best. She’s the kind who is like everyone’s grandma, which is why we’ve nicknamed this place “Grandma’s” It’s the perfect way to start your day. Their menu options include eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, and more!

The breakfast menu at Sarah’s Espresso Cafe in downtown Cedar Falls is small, but delicious. The outside of Sarah’s might deceive you due to it being a shared space with a bar, but it’s worth a stop. Their menu includes a breakfast sandwich, bagels & cream cheese, and egg bites, which are gluten free! During our stop, they were also offering a breakfast burrito, which my hubby raved about. But…these egg bites were light, delicious, and hit the spot! It doesn’t hurt that the coffee is delicious too!

Cedar Rapids is a large community, but nestled in the NewBo neighborhood is the quaint Brewhemia. Of course, a place with Brew in the name, you know their coffee and tea menu is large and delicious. For me though, the shining star is the breakfast menu with burritos, sandwiches, bowls, and breakfast tacos. The breakfast tacos… they were simply the best I’ve ever had. Plus, the historic building is gorgeous and just adds to the entire experience.

Another delicious restaurant located within a beautiful historic hotel?! Yes please! Caroline’s Restaurant is located in the basement of the Hotel Julien Dubuque in historic downtown Dubuque located near the Mississippi River. They offer classic platters, but several specialties like a Cherry Wood Smoked Bacon Panini, Corn Beef Hash, and Banana Bread French Toast. The beautifully restored restaurant makes for a great backdrop for a delicious breakfast.
