I’m not a farmer. My husband isn’t a farmer, but we’re impacted and have jobs because of farmers. Reality is that when you support farming, you support much more, and so many more than just the farmer!
When you support farming:
- You support the farmer who is putting his young adult child through college to become another really great adult.
- You support the salesman who is supporting his family while his wife stays home and takes care of their young children.
- You support the 20-something young man who does the application of the fertilizer as he ventures through his first full-time job and establishing himself on his own.
- You support the secretary of the seed company, chemical company, or elevator who is a single-mom just trying to do the best she can.
- You support the semi-driver who never had the chance of going to college, but taught himself how to drive a truck and provides for himself and his wife.
- You support the 100+ people who work at the grain processing plant, seed and chemical companies who are living paycheck to paycheck to care for their families.
- You support the people who work for Ford and Chevrolet who make the pick-ups that the farmers, salesmen, and employees drive.
- You support the people who work at John Deere with heavy, physically tasking materials every day, who produce the implements that the farmer needs to get the job done!
- You support the office staff at the seed and chemical company’s and the elevators who make sure that the employees are safe every day when they come to work.
- You support the workers at Kraft, General Mills, etc who produce the food we eat with the commodities that the farmer produces.
- You support the high school student working nights and weekends at the grocery store, that sells the food that was produced with the commodities from the farmers, saving money for college or their first car!
- You support the new college graduates who now work at a bank helping farmers finance the inputs needed to produce the commodities that produce the food that you eat.
- You support the gas station attendants who are just looking for a second chance at life. They are selling the ethanol or bio-diesel that was produced from the commodities that the farmers raised.
Supporting farmers supports millions, including yourself. Without farmers and all that it impacts, millions would be without jobs. Let’s live in a world where we support each other and not tear each other down. Thank a farmer or someone you’ve supported by supporting a farmer, today!
Great article! I support farming too! 🙂
What a great post! Everyone supports farmers whether they realize it or not. I sometimes wish that more people realized it though. 🙁 Thanks for sharing on the Country Fair Blog Party this month!
So true! Thanks for being a host!!
