There’s nothing better (at least in our house) that a bowl of chili with a slice of warm beer bread! Thankfully, my friend MS gave me her super easy beer bread recipe that is incredibly delicious!
Meet MS
Let me tell you about my friend MS! MS is one of my peeps at my “big girl job”. MS is 86 years old, plays bridge on a weekly basis, volunteers with several different organizations, lives on her own, and is just an all-around pretty dang cool person! How cool? I asked her what her secret was to staying to young and spry! She told me that you just have to keep going, “when you do nothing but sit in a chair is when you have to start looking in the newspaper to see what day it is and I don’t want to be that person!” Right on MS, right on!!
The Recipe
Well, the other day she was in and we were visiting and she had told me that she had already (mind you, it was about 8:30AM) mixed up and baked a batch of beer bread! I shared with her my typical failure with making bread and especially anything with yeast! She told me that this “from scratch” recipe was so easy, didn’t need any yeast and was no fail! She said, “even you can make it” and then laughed at me! Thanks MS! Well, guess what…she was right! Super easy, super yummy, and loved by family already!
Easy Beer Bread
Ingredients
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 12 oz beer or soda
- 1/2 stick butter melted
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients together and add beerMix wellPlace dough in the loaf panPour melted butter over doughBake at 375 degrees for 45minutes-1 hour
See? I told you it was super easy!
Baker’s Notes:
- I did mix about 1/2 teaspoon of Lawry’s salt into the melted butter and it gave it a nice flavor on the crust.
- After about 50 minutes, I pulled my beer bread out of the oven as MS told me she hardly ever bakes it the full hour
Pair this super easy beer bread with homemade taco soup!
I served this with homemade chicken noodle soup and my guys gobbled up over half the loaf right off the bat. R and I put butter on our slices and drizzled with honey! A couple days later I sliced and buttered it, then sprinkled on garlic powder and topped with mozzarella cheese, popped under a hot broiler for about 5 minutes and served with spaghetti! Yummmm! That got rave reviews too! Enjoy!
MS sounds like quite the lady! Plus, I’m going to have to try her beer bread recipe. Sounds delicious and easy!
She is quite the lady! I love her dearly! The bread is so yummy, I think I’m going to make some this afternoon when I get home!
So I loved this recipe and MS’s story even more, so I featured your post as one of my Country Fair Blog Party Blue Ribbon Winners from December: http://www.cornbeanspigskids.com/2016/01/country-fair-blog-party-january-2016.html. Thanks for linking up!
Thank you so much!!
