Random Monday Thoughts, 11/23/2015

I decided to go a little different with my random Monday thoguths today. With Thanksgiving this week, let’s talk about our favorite things about Thanksgiving!!  So, in no particular order, here’s what I love about Thankgiving!

1.  Pecan Pie – My aunt J makes THE BEST pecan pie!  We’ve even tried making it with her recipe and it never quite tastest the same!

2.  Mashed Potatoes & Gravy  – Yup, other than my aunt’s pecan pie, mashed potatoes and gravy are my favorite part of the meal.  My mom makes some of the best I know, but my father-in-law (who does the cooking for hoiday’s at T’s moms) makes outstanding mashed potatoes and gravy and I eat pretty much just that!!

3.  Decorating for Christmas – I love decorating for Christmas!  It takes quite awhile for me because I have so many decorations, but it’s so worth it.  This year, I was in the mood a little early (one week) and put the tree up this past weekend.  The snow storm on Friday did it to me, I swear!  I’ve never decorated for Christmas before treeThanksgiving in my life!  I only did the tree (with M’s help of course) and I’m promising myself that that is as far as I’m going to go until after Thanksgiving!

4.  A long weekend with my family – I love that Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday.  That sets us up for the perfect long weekend.  I love the extra time with the boys and T as well as our extended family!  My parents’ birthdays also fall near or on Thanksgiving (depending on the date) and so we usually get to celebrate those as well!

5.  Giving Thanks – We are so blessed.  We have more than we could ever need and I love that while I’m thankful year-round for all that we have, there is also time that we are “forced” to think more about it and really be thankful for all that we have!

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. All things I love about this time of year too! I think the snow storm put everyone in the holiday spirit. We usually go pick out our tree the Sunday after Thanksgiving and we’ll probably due the same this year. And you have heard of my love for pecan pie 🙂

  2. I made some amazing mashed potatoes AND pecan pie this year for Thanksgiving feast day and it was the first time I could brag about them, I think. I love everything about this time of year but yes—being able to focus on thanks is the best part for me. Thanks for sharing!
