Revived, Refreshed, and Fantastic….A Stay at the Red Fox Inn

Who doesn’t love an overnight stay that makes you feel revived, refreshed, and fantastic?! How about a stay that includes not having to leave the hotel for food or drink?! That’s exactly what you get when you plan a stay at the Red Fox Hotel & Event Center in Waverly.

While we were hosted during our stay at the Red Fox Hotel, all thoughts are 100% authentic and my own. For more details, please see the Disclosure Tab.

History of the Red Fox

The Red Fox Inn was originally constructed in the 1970’s in Waverly, Iowa. It was a prime event center in it’s time with 100+ guest rooms, a banquet room, restaurant, and bar. Over the next 30ish years, many people celebrated special events, spent their wedding nights, and more at this Eastern Iowa spot. Then, it fell into disrepair and was almost doomed for destruction when new owner Nick Graham (and some friends) worked with the city of Waverly to give it a new life.

New Life for the Red Fox

2 Years ago, Nick Graham saw a vision and decided to execute it with the help of some friends. Now, the renovated hotel is complete. The first priority for Nick was renovating the back part of the hotel into long-term rentals. Now, all 100 units are rented with studio apartments along with 1 and 2 bedroom units. We were lucky enough to tour one of the units and they are beautifully furnished.

Lobby Area at Red Fox Hotel

The original pool area was kept and renovated and is a beautiful and bright space with an adjoining workout room. For once, this workout room doesn’t look like a closet and the treadmill doesn’t face a wall! Instead you’re facing a glass wall overlooking the pool in an open area! Add in an air hockey table, pool table, and couple other arcade games and you have a great entertainment area. This space makes for a great spot for the family to enjoy during a staycation.

So, why book a stay at the Red Fox Hotel?! They have done an amazing job renovating the rooms into modern and clean spaces with extra special touches.

Modern Finishes

The Red Fox is now finished in modern finishes with grays, whites, and other neutrals. It’s got such a clean and sleek feel and yet has a cozy feel. The lobby is simple, warm, and welcoming.

What are my favorite finishes and small details that the Red Fox has going on?!

Hard Surfaced Floors

You won’t find carpet anywhere in this hotel with the exception of the stairwells, and a few other small areas. Hard surface floors give it a much cleaner feel than carpet.

Hot Beverage Options

Like most hotel rooms in today’s world, they offer small individual coffee makers, but it was the options that made me happy! Not only do they have regular and decaf coffee pods, but also tea, and latte options along with packets of hot cocoa! That’s thinking of all the little details and making sure everyone has something!

Room Darkening Blinds

I hate having to wrestle with curtains in a hotel room, so I was super excited to see that the Red Fox Inn selected fabric room darkening blinds instead. It gives the room a clean feel and keeps the bedroom extra dark. I loved them so much I want them in a couple rooms in my own home!

A Real Couch

One of the main reasons I would book the business suite (Room 400, in case you want to make sure to get the exact room) is the SUPER comfy couch and TV area. The couch in this suite is a real couch (Ashley brand) with electric recliners on both ends. The smart TV is large and offers the ability to log-in to your own accounts to enjoy watching TV and just relaxing. Room 311 (the Jacuzzi suite) also features one of these great couches.

Red Fox BBQ & Pizzeria

One of the best things about booking a stay at the Red Fox is that you don’t have to leave! A fully renovated bar is just down the hall along with the Red Fox BBQ & Pizzeria. Red Fox BBQ features a full menu of smoked meats including pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, & burnt ends. They also offer ribs and nightly specials (including prime rib on Saturday nights). Appetizers, salads, baskets, and pizzas round out their menu.

Dinners & lunches are delicious, but the real gem is their Sunday brunch buffet. This, all you can eat buffet, is served from 9AM-12:30PM and features so many delicious things like scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, sausage, waffles, French toast, and more! Did I mention that their buffet price includes bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s?! During our visit, T and I thoroughly enjoyed the buffet and both commented that it was probably the best breakfast we’ve had in a very long time!

The bar is full service with beer, cocktails, and more. There is a pool table, and frequent live music. You can get food from the restaurant to enjoy there while having a drink as well. It’s a super relaxed atmosphere.

Time to Feel Revived, Refreshed, and Fantastic with a Stay at the Red Fox Inn

While the accomomdations are great and the food is delicious, the staff at the Red Fox Hotel & restaurant are what makes it truly unique. Everyone we came in contact with truly cared about our experience and providing us with the best service.

There are so many reasons to book a stay at the new Red Fox Inn, but whether it’s a family winter weekend getaway or a couples weekend, everyone will have a good time and leave feeling revived, refreshed, and fantastic! Waverly also is a great place to spend the weekend with great downtown shops, restaurant options, a coffee shop, bakery, and brewery. A stay at the Red Fox Inn is the whole package.
