Comments for A Cause: My Happy Place

Recently I became aware of an amazing organization right here in North Iowa. It’s called My Happy Place. While I love the Comments for a Cause idea, I don’t always participate each month!  I feel very strongly about only participating when I find a cause or organization that strongly moves me and that is the case this month!  This group is a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in our community’s.  They work with sick children and families to create a fun and safe living space for the child at home!  my happy place

From their website,

“We do this by working closely with the child and families to design and redecorate a personalized bedroom within the family’s home. We fill this space with items that are meaningful to the child and in a style they choose.  Our goal is to help as many sick children as possible, one child at a time, one community at a time.  We believe that every child deserves their very own happy place.”

So far, through their efforts they have decorated 19 rooms and have 4 coming up!  They’ve decorated rooms to be like the inside of a fish tank, a man cave for a teen age boy, one to appear like an outdoor tree house/camping scene, and many dreams have come true!  What a fantastic way to brighten a child’s day that faces so much adversity!

10 Traveling Companions & Reflections

I discovered this “note” on Facebook that wrote probably close to 8 years ago!  As I read it and reflected on my answers then, I’m amazed I still feel the same about things.  There will be a few notes in italics that are my thoughts now, as an older more mature person!

My dad gave me a book in my stocking for Christmas called “Keep Believing in Yourself and Your Dreams” It’s a collection of different poems, quotations, and writings “to motivate and inspire your dreams”. Now, I’m going to have to admit that I’m not usually one for cheesy quotations, etc. But I’ve found one part that has really gotten me thinking. So, I’m going to share it here, along with some thoughts about how it applies to my own life and who knows…maybe they’ll be more as I read!

Direct Sales & Social Media

Direct Sales & Social Media

Oh, where do I begin?? People in direct sales and social media…they make me want to cringe! Not all of them, but a handful of them!

Now, before you start hating on me for hating on DS…I am IN direct sales. I sell for two different companies!!  I’ve sold for Jamberry Nails for almost 3 years now and Norwex for almost a year and let me tell you, I LOVE both companies that I sell for.  I love the way their treat their consultants, I love the financial bonus it provides for me and my family, and most importantly, I love the products that I sell…if I didn’t feel this way about either company, I’d drop it like a ton of bricks, but…people can trust me because I’m not selling 100% of the time!

Direct Sales is a balancing act.  You have to balance selling and not selling as to not push your family and friends away.  I also know how hard someone in direct sales has to work to make a profit!  Today, it seems like everyone is a consultant for something and there are a million and a half companies out there!  It is because of that that I have to be even more conscious to be careful not to push my friends and family away with my sales!  So, here are a few simple tips to remember.
