The Hurricane of Life!

The SS10 spent the weekend with my mom and step-dad while we took SS14 and his girlfriend to the Iowa State football game. Apparently the 10 year old has a much better time at grandma and grandpa’s house because he didn’t want to come home with us last night. Of course grandma and grandpa didn’t argue, so he stayed! (One of the things I love best about where our boys are being raised is their proximity to my parents who love them as their own and my mom and step-dad just live about 10 blocks from us, so it’s very convenient.) The Struggle Was Real!

If you are a runner or are committed to any sort of physical activity that you do every day, you completely understand my title.  This morning while I was out for my run, it was a struggle!  Sadly it was a struggle from the first step!  Let me set the scene for you!  It was 73 degrees with 71 dew point and 98% humidity.  If you do any sort of physical activity outside, you know what this means…misery!  I love running in the early mornings as I find the air to be “cleaner” or “uninterrupted” and usually much more tolerable to breathe (also, if I don’t do it first thing in the morning, it doesn’t get done).  This morning did not support my reason to run in the wee hours of the day!  UGH!  It was awful out there from the first step and it didn’t get better over time!

The Day After…

One would think that since I’ve grown to be an adult that I would stop having the blues on the Day After.  Remember, Christmas as a child?  You would be so excited for Christmas (or a birthday) and that anticipation would build and build over the days leading up to it.  Then, the day arrives, you open presents, you spend time with family, and then the next day you feel so let down, you want to cry!  Ok, maybe not everyone experienced this as a child surrounding Christmas or birthdays, but I sure did and I still do!  Not necessarily just with holidays anymore either. Ridiculed for Eating Healthy?

Warning!  This post may come off as a rant!

I try to be a healthy person (for whatever that means). I count my calories on week days, I exercise 5 times a week. I have struggled with anorexia for the past 12 years. (That post is for another day), but I feel like I’m at a really healthy point in my life right now.

Did you know that more than 1/3 of Americans (or 78.6 million) are considered obese? Now, this post is not going to ridicule people who struggle with weight because I get that and I know it truly is a struggle for some people. On the flip side, continue reading to know what it sometimes feels like to be one of the “healthy” or “fit” ones. Continue “Ridiculed for Eating Healthy?”
