Spring is finally here!!
I might be a little premature starting my garden updates already, but after the delayed spring we’ve had…I can’t hep it, I’m so stinking excited that the warmer weather is finally here and the plants are growing!
Delayed Spring
If you’re not aware, Iowa has had the craziest spring! We’ve been having more winter than spring! This includes receiving a winter storm this past Wednesday (April 18th) that included 5 inches of snow plus some sleet! Thankfully, Mother Nature finally seems to be in a good mood and this weekend we finally hit those 60 degree temps! Prior to this weekend, I had noticed that some of my bulbs were up, but I was worried about them with the cold temps and snow again! I’m happy to report that they seemed to weather the storm just fine!
Spring is Here
So, what do I have up and making their spring appearance?
I have some daffodils that are up in our “wild bed”. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know we have one flower bed that we call our “wild bed”. It is not manicured, it’s full of all sorts of grasses, perennials, and things that bloom at all different times of the year!
We also have quite a few tulips up all over in different places that we’ve planted them! T is worried about if they’ll actually bloom since spring is so late. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
Of course, I’m probably most excited because my lilies are coming up! I also have some new lilies in my fridge waiting to get in the ground!
You can see the little pink sprouts which are my Cushion Spurge coming back to life! I can’t wait to see the vibrant green flowers that this plant puts off!! Stay tuned!
This last photo isn’t of a plant, but probably the only other being who is happier than me that it’s finally nice out!
Nike LOVES being outside when it’s nice! She goes to the end of her lead and will lay in the sun and sleep for hours! She was outside this weekend more than she was inside! She’s the happiest pup when she can be out there!!
Do you have flowers coming up? Are you making plans for your gardens? I can’t wait for things to progress and see where they are in two weeks! Thanks for coming along on the ride!
I’m excited about your garden so far. Your landscaping looks great each year.
Oh, thank you!! I’m glad you enjoy it!!!
