I’ve heard of Live Healthy Iowa and their 10 week challenge for quite some time now, but have never actually participated until now! When Kelli of The Sustainable Couple posed the question of some Iowa bloggers partnering up with The Iowa Food & Family Project and Live Healthy Iowa…I knew I had to be all over this! This was right up my alley…fitness, health, fun, and friendly competition!
Let’s break this down now. What is the Live Healthy Iowa challenge??
“Live Healthy Iowa brings together friends, families, businesses and communities in team-based wellness challenges designed to promote positive lifestyle change. These challenges are proven to change the culture of a company or community, one team at a time!”
By now, we all know how important living healthy is to me! I’m always looking for ways to further that, challenge myself, and help others around me! What better way to do that than join a team of Iowa bloggers and see what we can do?! So now, here I am! And while I’ve always loved working out, being a part of this challenge as sparked the competitiveness side of me! There are different aspects of the challenge that you can aim for or you can aim for them all: most minutes of activity, most percentage of weight loss, and more! While I’m not looking to lose a ton of weight (a couple pounds wouldn’t hurt though), I want our team to be the most active! How badly do I want this?? So bad that this past week when we were in blizzard like conditions for two days, I just knew I had to get to the gym because I couldn’t post zeros for the day! I would be letting my team down!!
There will be more posts about my participation and how the experience has been, but the other exciting part of this is that at the end of the 10 weeks, I get to participate in a 5K road race called the Live Healthy Iowa 5K. Now, you may or may not know this about me, but I used to race a lot! I would run 7-10 races a summer and have even completed 3 half-marathons before! So, what has this little competition done to me?? It’s gotten me excited about racing again and actually has me contemplating training for another half marathon this summer! (oh my…) We’ll see what happens with that, but in the mean time, stay tuned to see what happens with the challenge and for healthy recipes to help along the way!!

Glad you joined in on this as it seems like the perfect fit for you! Can’t wait to see what you post during the challenge.
Thanks! It definitely is a good fit!
I cant wait to get some results from our competition! Maybe they’ll give us a mid-point check in to see who’s leading in activity minutes 🙂 I bet you’re on top of that category!
I’d love to see where our team is too! I bet you’re giving me a run for my money!
