I’ve already professed my love for Simply Nourished in Clear Lake. If you haven’t read that post, you can find it HERE! And I thought a product review would be fun because one of the things I love most about shopping there is getting the opportunity to try new products/foods that are healthier for me! Here are some of the things I’ve tried in the last couple months!
Things That Make Me Say “eh”
Not everyone is going to love every new product they try! And while none of the products I’ve purchased from Simply Nourished have been terrible, they all haven’t been my favorite! So, I thought I’d share the products that make me say “eh” first! This means, they weren’t terrible, but they aren’t my favorite.
Up first is Tessemae’s Matty’s Organic BBQ Sauce. I was looking for a bbq sauce that didn’t have any added sugar and this was the one recommended to me! The texture of this sauce was great, but when you’re used to super sweet (with sugar or corn syrup) bbq sauce, it’s hard to transition to this one. However, this was great for making bbq shredded chicken.
Next is Tapuat Brewing Co. Blueberry Kombucha. The flavor of this kombucha is very light and infused with some flowers, which is what I didn’t care for. The flavor isn’t terrible, it just isn’t something that I would pick off the shelf again!
McClure’s Pickels is up next! T and I were very excited to try these as we LOVE pickles, however I have to admit that we were disappointed. These smell amazing and the crunch is good, but the flavor was too strong for T and I found a sweet tang that I didn’t care for!
Things That Make Me Say “YUM”!
With the bad, comes the good of course and there have been plenty of new foods that I have tried from Simply Nourished that definitely make me say yum!!
Another kombucha from Tapuat Brewing Co, Grape Memory is delicious! It’s so light and refreshing, full of flavor, without being syrupy or heavy! It’s easy to finish a whole bottle!
Salad Girl Dressings are where it’s at! I’m on my second bottle of Lemony Herb and loving Citrus Splash as well! There are several other flavors I want to try, but I love these organic, no sugar added dressings! A little goes a long way because it’s so flavorful! My favorite way to eat it is to combine chopped salad with grilled chicken, some sunflower seeds, and a little dressing! It makes a great and healthy lunch! I recommend picking up a bottle or 4! 😉
(I haven’t tried the seasoning packets pictured yet, so stay tuned!)
Cumin Crunch Trail Mix from Lake Ellen Farm is AH-MAZING! When Ashley (owner of Simply Nourished) gifted me this as a thank you, I was very doubtful that I would like it! Something seasoned with cumin seemed crazy and questionable to me. But, let me tell you, this is one of my favorite new trail mixes! The flavor is strong (too strong for T), but to me, it’s great! I love the sprouted almonds and the pumpkin seeds. The slight sweetness of the raisins gives it a perfect balance.
Bubba’s Fine Foods Savory & Crunchy Righteous Ranch Snack Mix is drool=worthY! Who knew that banana chips seasoned with ranch could be so tasty?! I’ve already had to restrict and ration myself eating this or the whole bag would have been gone in one sitting! I’ll be purchasing several bags the next time I visit the store!
Trying these new foods has been so fun and I can’t wait to continue this process! I hope you find something that appeals to you and that you’ll visit my friends at Simply Nourished soon!
LOVE their apple walnut vinaigrette! Light, fresh and just the right combo of day/ tart.
That’s on my list of ones to try!!!
This post is so fun and I love the honest reviews. There was someone sampling the Salad Girl dressing at the grocery store the other day. It tasted so refreshing. I’m loving your kombucha posts! I gave up after the fourth batch – it tasted kind of weird. If you need some supplies, I’ve got some extra bottles and jars:)
Thanks girl! I love my Salad Girl dressings for sure!! The homemade Kombucha is definitely different than store bought! I’m still working on it!!!
