Here’s something you need to know about me (if you don’t already). I don’t pull any punches, I don’t sugar coat things, and I live in reality! So, what’s my reality you ask?
Reality is: I work a full-time job, sell for 2 DS companies, & have my own social media management business. I’m a busy lady and it leaves very little time for “me” time or girls nights out or even time to maintain girlfriend relationships.
Reality is: My step-sons keep me even busier! Between cross-country and football this fall, our calendar is full. I’m exhausted just writing all the meets and games into my planner and on the calendar. I think scheduling everything should be a sport by itself!
Reality is: We eat processed crap foods. We almost always have a pan of brownies at our house. I don’t have the time or desire to home-bake my own bread!
Reality is: there’s a load of clean laundry in the dryer that’s been there for almost 48 hours and it will probably be there for another 24.
Reality is: my flower gardens are looking despaired. They need to be weeded so badly.
Reality is: I have some great friends who are no or low maintenance. They “get” that we are all busy and just because we don’t see each other for weeks or even months doesn’t mean I don’t care. They also get that just because I don’t “snap them” or text them to find out how their kids’ first day of school went doesn’t mean I don’t care. They know I’m busy with my own family. The same goes for my family members like this!
Reality is: I’m beyond blessed to be a step-mom to amazing young men and I wouldn’t trade traipsing around the state for anything. The exhaustion is 150% worth watching them work toward something and excelling!
Reality is: We aren’t going to die, the boys aren’t going to get sick because I made macaroni & cheese for lunch, a frozen pizza for supper, and threw a bowl of Fruit Loops at them for breakfast!
Reality is: It’s a good thing my husband doesn’t mind wearing wrinkly jeans. The laundry is one of the last priorities in my life. I mean…we can just re-wear things, right?!
Reality is: I’m going to continue taking pictures of my blooming flowers and growing cantaloupes and ignore the weeds. I’m not going to choose to weed my garden instead of going to a cross-country meet. They are just going to die in a couple months anyway.
Reality is: I have an amazing husband who loves me and is my true team partner in life. I also have 2 step-sons that continue to make me proud, make me feel blessed, and I can’t imagine my life without. My parents are the best set of four parents a girl could ask for!
Reality is: I want bring you new content here on Learning As I Go. I have new recipes rolling around in my brain, I want to take my guys on adventures and share them with you all, but reality is: I don’t have time or energy right now. So, please be patient. I promise good stuff will be coming in the next month or so…it just might not be in the next couple weeks!
Reality is that you are getting out and living your life~ ENJOY!
Thank you and yes, you are so right!!
Your reality is wonderful. I get asked how I do it all and I always laugh and say I don’t. You’re doing a great job, Katy!
Oh gosh, you are so right Robin! Fake it a lot and make it look like it’s all getting done, right?! LOL!
Reality is: I stayed up until midnight folding 6 baskets of clean laundry that had been piling up in my laundry room for two weeks. 🙂 sadly the only reason I stayed up to do it because I’ve run out of underwear.
Hang in there kiddo. You have your whole life for weeding and laundry. Your kids will only be home for a short time. 🙂
You are so right! Thanks for making me feel better knowing that I’m not the only one with laundry sitting in baskets!
the “seasons” of our lives are always changing, some busier than others. you have a lot on your plate, but as long as you are enjoying it all, its all worth it!
You are so right! I do enjoy them all! 🙂
The reality is: You’re freaking AMAZING!
I love that you have a pan of brownies, unfolded laundry and Fruit Loops for breakfast. You’re basically my spirit animal.
Aw, thanks! It’s life and it’s crazy, but pretty great!!
