Wildwood Soda: A Taste Test

The North Iowa Bloggers seemed to have hatched some mild monsters in my guys with all their taste tests.  The bloggers have done the Lay’s Do Us A Flavor, Oreo, and pizza taste tests.  Well, after the Oreo taste test Beth Ann sent leftover Oreos home with me for the boys to try!  We did a very impromptu taste test, but they thoroughly enjoyed it!  Then, after the official NIB pizza taste test, the boys decided that we needed to have one of our own, so we did! Well, this past weekend proved that my guys are loving the taste tests just as much as the bloggers.  While shopping with T & M, we stumbled upon Wildwood Soda at Mills Fleet Farm and noticed that they had some unique flavors like Pineapple & Pina Colada…well, 6 bottles of soda later, we were headed home to try our very own soda taste test!

Zesty Creamy Cucumbers

T has decided that cucumbers are one of his favorite things to grow in the garden now!  Last year I had 2 plants in our garden and it was the perfect amount!  This year, I think I have at least 6!  So, because of that I’ve been eating cucumbers for quite some time now!  I love having a garden with fresh produce for many reasons!  Of course nothing is better than garden fresh green beans, but we’ve frozen our own green beans for this coming winter as well.  I’ve shared a ton of green beans with friends & neighbors.  I’ve put chopped red onions in the freezer for the future and we use our potatoes as we need them!

Things You Need to Know About Step-Parents!

I LOVE being a step-mom! I love my step-sons…or my boys as I affectionately call them! We all know they aren’t biologically my boys, but I love them as if they are!  Earlier this summer I came across THIS article about being a step-parent and felt as though I could have written it myself!

I feel the need to preface or follow up what I refer to my step-sons as with a disclaimer because someone might get the wrong idea or think I’m trying to steal the thunder from their mom and honestly, it’s exhausting because that isn’t what I’m trying to do! While being a step-mom is one of the greatest “jobs” I’ve ever had, it’s also one of the hardest, but I would never change it for the world. Our family vacation to South Dakota was so fantastic, it had to be broke up into three different sections!  In case you missed Part 1, you’ll want to go back and find out about the Corn Palace, Badlands Scenic Loop, & Bear Country USA.  Those are things you certainly don’t want to miss if you are thinking about a trip to South Dakota!  But, for today, I bring you the South Dakota Air & Space Museum & Mount Rushmore!

South Dakota: A Family’s Playground, Part 1

I can’t believe it’s been over a week since we returned from the #FlintsTakeSD trip!  Life has continued on in full force and we’re in the homestretch before football season starts and then school.  As life continues on, I’m struggling to collect my thoughts about our vacation to South Dakota and so I decided to start with our recommendations for where to visit!  Due to there being so many this will be broken into several different posts!  So, without further ado….thing things that we think make South Dakota a Family’s Playground!

Chicken Noodle Bowl

This past Saturday I had a night to myself! After a week of family vacation, R headed to his moms and I sent T & M to a race event that I really had no desire to attend for several reasons! One of them was that I needed time to myself!  When I get time to myself at home, I love to experiment with food that I know the guys wouldn’t eat!  I love to try new things, put part in the freezer and see what comes out!
