Several years ago, shortly after T and I were married, we took the boys to the Kansas Speedway for a NASCAR race.  I remember the raceway being surrounded by grass fields, couple hotels, a gas station, and not much more.  Now, this area of town is a booming entertainment center with something to do for everyone!

Tuck in at the Homewood Suites in Kansas City, Kansas

Tuck in at the Homewood Suites in Kansas City, Kansas

Deciding which hotel to stay at while on a trip is difficult. What isn’t difficult is deciding to tuck in at the brand new Homewood Suites in Kansas City, KS.

Homewood Suites

Brand New Hotel

When I stayed at the Homewood Suites just off Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, the facility had only been open about a month!  In fact, there was still a bit of landscaping and construction to be done outside, but that definitely did not deter from the beautiful facility.  The open, bright, clean, and modern lobby is welcoming to any guest, whether you’re tucking in for one night or a week!

Block 10 @ 1921 City Hall: Where Coffee & History Collide

Where do I spend the most time in Sheffield, Iowa? It’s at work, but the second place I spend the most time at is Block 10 @ 1921 City Hall.  This is a fantastic coffee shop around the corner from my office!  For the first 2.5 years I worked in Sheffield there was no coffee shop, but thanks to Randy and Holly Coffee, we don’t go without any longer!  There’s just something wrong with a gas station cappuccino…or whatever they want to call it!  So, I’m thrilled they are a part of our community!

This “Season”

There are certain times in our yearly calendar in which we don’t travel far from home.  Or, if we do, it’s to track meets, baseball games, basketball games, etc.  There are also times of the year that we don’t travel far due to T’s job!  (Read more about that here!)  So, since we can’t get in the car and drive for hours and hours to explore, I thought it would be a good time to focus on what we have right in our own backyard!  That means we’re starting with one of my favorite places in my backyard, Block 10 at 1921 Sheffield City Hall.
