I heard from Beth Ann of It’s Just Life who heard from Val of Corn, Beans, Pigs, & Kids (all part of our amazing #NorthIowaBloggers group) that it’s Library Lovers Month! How cool is that? So, after taking January off of Comments for a Cause, I’m back this month!
I’ve always loved libraries and reading! Growing up in Hampton, I’ve always known how awesome our library and librarians are! When I was a kid I went to the library on a regular basis to check out books as well as participate in special activities like plays, holiday events, & I volunteered as an elementary aged kid helping put away books, cleaning, and other jobs.
Now, that I am getting the privilege to learn about another great community in our county I’m amazed at what an awesome little library the town of Sheffield has! They have some awesome things going on! They have an outstanding Lego program for school aged kids and they just hosted a Fancy Nancy Tea Party this past weekend for little girls and their moms! They also offer story-time for different aged kids, run a summer reading program, and have a group of retired coffee ladies each Monday morning. So many fantastic things going on! So, I decided to choose this library as the recipient of my Comments for a Cause this month! For every comment on my posts during the month of February, I will donate 50 cents to the library to be used for their summer reading program!
I hope that libraries stay an important part of our communities and culture and if there is anything I can do to help, I want to! Please help me out too and comment comment comment this month!
Great cause this month! Yay for libraries. My favorite place when I was in grade school was the North Fairfield Library. I would stop there every day as I delivered papers on my paper route and the librarian, Mrs. Chandler, was my best friend. I wrote a post about her a long time ago. I may have to resurrect that one for Library Lovers Month!!!
Thats awesome! I loved volunteering at the library when i was in elementary school!
I just looked up the post—I think it will be reposted later this week! The picture that goes with it makes me cringe but hey—–it’s all for the blog.
Yay! Im excited!
I even love the smell of libraries. There is something about holding the book in your hands and the anticipation of what the next page holds! I could never be Ann e book reader.
Me too! I love turning the pages and holding the book in my hand!
Great cause and great way to celebrate Library Lover’s Month!
Thank you!
