Eating In Turks & Caicos: A Delicious Work of Art

If you know anything about me, it’s that I love food!  And eating in Turks & Caicos, has been one of my favorite experiences! The restaurants at our resort and sister resorts were phenomenal!  It was so fantastic that I thought I needed to share them with you all!  I have a lot of pictures with some descriptions, but consider this more of a photographical tour of the delicious food we ate and the restaurants in Turks & Caicos that we ate it at!

ASU on the Beach – The Alexandra Resort

We stayed at the Alexandra Resort with the all-inclusive option and really enjoyed the food that came from Asu on the Beach!  We ate breakfast here each morning and enjoyed the breakfast buffet which had everything from made-to-order omelets to a buffet of fresh fruit and everything in between!  At lunchtime, one can choose from a made-to-order lunch menu or a lunch buffet!  Several days we enjoyed the buffet which had endless french fries, salad, jerk chicken, and more!  However, we did enjoy the made-to-order menu a couple times!

T ordered the Island Burger one day!  Lucky for me, he didn’t care for the grilled pineapple on it, but I thought it was divine!  But, how creative and delicious looking is this?!

I am always on the quest for delicious fish tacos!  I love fish tacos!   If this tells you how good they are, I ate them two or three times for lunch!  They season the fish, grill it to flaky perfection, and serve it with a delicious slaw and pico!  YUM!  All their sandwiches and lunch entrees are served in these fun black wooden boxes with little fryer boxes of french fries (which are crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside)! So delicious!

Of course, one day that we ate the lunch buffet, I had to snag some dessert the minute I saw bread pudding on the dessert table!  It was yummy…and so was the carrot cake!

And how can you beat this sunset view from Asu?!

Kitchen 218 at Beach House

This was probably my favorite meal of all that we ate while vacationing!  Kitchen 218 is at the Alendra’s sister property, The Beach House, and requires reservations for dinner!  But, it is beyond worth it and takes eating in the Turks & Caicos to a whole new level!  Small touches like potato soup shooters to taste and a variety of bread with three different spreads set it out from it’s competition!

T and I both tried different things for our appetizer that evening.  T selected the Caesar salad, which he raved about!

I selected the Crab Cake with a spicy marinara, grilled corn, and lemon aioli!  It was AMAZING!

Next up for our entrees, T selected the steak with garlic mashed potatoes!  He said it was delicious!

I picked the Pan-Friend Grouper with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies!  This was my favorite entree of the entire trip!  (But, don’t make me pick between the grouper and the fish tacos!)  While the menu said pan-friend, it wasn’t breaded and fried, like we typically think about!  It was lightly floured (I think) and well seasoned!  You tasted the fresh fish and nothing else!

Dessert at Kitchen 218 is one option, whichever the chef decides that night!  The night we visited, it was Tiramisu!  I tend to not favor Tiramisu, but this stuff was amazing!  It was soaked in some sort of liquor and topped with fresh blueberries!  Delicious!

One thing we found extra special at Kitchen 218 was the in-house green house!  Right off the dining area is a green house in which diners can select their lettuce and tomatoes for their salads which are chopped right in front of you.  While we didn’t get to experience this (the greenhouse was destroyed in the most recent hurricanes and was still being rebuilt and replanted), we thought it was a great touch!

Fire & Ice at Blue Haven

For dinner, our favorite restaurant in Turks & Caicos, to visit, was Blue Haven and their restaurant, Fire & Ice!  We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service was impeccable!  We enjoyed the food at all the restaurants, but we loved the combination of dining on the beach, but also feeling like we were in a dining room!

Fire & Ice at Blue Have in Turks & Caicos

Of course, the food is delicious as well!  The first evening when we visited Fire & Ice, I selected the Red Snapper with a Creole sauce over rice!

It was delicious and truly a work of art!  T selected a beef stir fry and said it was probably his best meal of the trip!  And this is saying a lot considering he doesn’t traditionally like stir fry!

The second evening we dined at Fire & Ice, we decided to partake in something that makes their restaurant unique!  They bring a table-top charcoal grill to your table piping hot and ready for you to grill your own meat!  Select from pre-marinated beef, pork, or chicken and they also bring you grilled veggies (I tried grilled zucchini and it was delish) as well as endless waffle fries!  We selected pork and while it wasn’t our favorite meal, it was a fun experience!

eating in turks & caicos

Of course, like most nights, we had to have dessert as well!  I LOVED my apple tart with ice cream!

T ordered the cheesecake sampler, which was his dessert of choice the entire trip!  In fact, that’s probably the thing he misses most!

Drink Up

Of course, what is a trip to a tropical island without a few tropical drinks!

While Turks & Caicos boasts rum punch (bottom right) as their signature drink, my favorites were the Melon Ball Martini (upper right) and the one on the far left!  I can’t remember it’s name, but it was a cross between a melon ball martini and a margarita!  It was delish! T also enjoyed trying the domestic beer, Turk’s Head, which came in a variety of lights and dark ales.

Conclusion about Eating in Turks & Caicos

While eating in Turks & Caicos, we determined a few things.  The first is they have the balance right.  Most of your place is made up of your protein and is always served with vegetables and a very small amount of starch (carbs).  Second, entrees are not overly large, but more of a work of art!  Third, you can easily eat your appetizer, entree, and have a dessert because their portions are more manageable.  These restaurants in Turks & Caicos will not disappoint your culinary desires!  (And I should mention that you don’t have to be staying at the resorts in order to take advantage of the amazing food)!  Where have you had your best meals?!
