Mary began by sharing with us the history of Natural Plus Nursery. Their family business began when her in-laws moved back to the area from Des Moines and started this business on her mother-in-laws family farm! A number of years later, her in-laws were ready to retire. After listing the nursery for a couple of years and it not selling they came to Mary and her husband Dave to just plant the seed in their minds about taking over. After some consideration, they agreed that it seemed like the natural (no pun intended) thing to do! Fast forward a year and a half and here they are, embracing their new adventure as a couple and as a family!
Natural Plus offers a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and perennial plants along with bird baths, pots, deck and patio accessories, and other gardening items.
Once we finished our tour of the grounds, Mary sent us out on a scavenger hunt to learn more about the products they offer as well as learn a few things! It was great fun and I found some awesome shrubs & bushes that I really liked! (I even took some pictures of tags and brought them home to T as we are looking for some bushes and a tree for our property!) I was excited to find out that I was the winner of her door prize and was pleasantly surprised when she presented this to me!
Finally, we finished out day with some amazing treats prepared by Beth Ann of It’s Just Life and we enjoyed them with conversation on Mary’s patio!
What a wonderful afternoon we had and I hope if you’re in the area you’ll consider taking a drive to Natural Plus Nursery, it will be worth your time! You can join them during their Spring Open House May 1st through the 9th! They are open Monday-Friday from 8AM until 5PM, Saturday 8AM-4PM, and Sunday 12PM-3PM.
