#FitFriday on Saturday…or Sunday- Taking Care of Me!

Friday was one of those days…I was irritable (moody, if you will), exhausted physically & mentally, overwhelmed after being gone all night before with the #NorthIowaBloggers (more on that later), overwhelmed by a lot of things at work, and just “down” in general.

Then, I realized that I didn’t have my #FitFriday post written.  I knew what I wanted to write about, but didn’t have the time this week to write it.  I started to feel even more down.  I felt like I was failing.  Failing at balancing everything that I do.  What do I “do”?  On a daily and weekly basis I am a wife, step-mom, friend, daughter, City Clerk, Jamberry Nails consultant, Facebook marketer for a small business, volunteer for my local chamber, and blogger.  Yes, I get myself into all of these things (well, being a daughter wasn’t really my doing, but it’s a good things, so I’ll go with it), but I love them all.  I love all of the things that I do, which is why I do them.  But, this week…everything has caught up with me.  I am struggling to find the balance in everything and make everyone around me happy as well as myself.

#FitFriday – Upper Body Toning

Remember once before I said that I would rather run everyday than do any cross training or weight lifting? (If you haven’t read that post, you can find it HERE.) But, I’ve been dedicated the last several months to toning the parts of me that aren’t toned.  Being someone who has been a runner since 2007, my legs are about as toned as they can be.  They are the one part of me that I have always been pleased with (or at least since I started running).  However, because of my dislike for any other sort of exercise other parts of my body have suffered.  So, that brings us to this fall when I decided to change that.  While body image is something that I’ve always struggled with I decided this year that I wanted to love ALL of me!

#FitFriday – SparkPeople’s Total Body Sculpt

#FitFriday – SparkPeople’s Total Body Sculpt

I received a #RealisticResolution package for the purposes of reviewing.  All thoughts & opinions are my own and 100% honest.

0108151742Thanks to my awesome #RealisticResolution package from Gorton’s Seafood & SparkPeople, I received the DVD from SparkPeople “Total Body Sculpt”.

I’m usually very leary of workout DVD’s because I either feel like they don’t give me the results that I would like or require much more coordination than I have (I’m very uncoordinated and that’s why I stick to running and lifting weights with some elliptical thrown in every once in awhile.)

#FitFriday – Feeding Your Body

instaquote-12-12-2014-12-15-22I have learned over the last several years (and it really shouldn’t have been a shock to me) that the healthier I eat, the better I feel. I have more energy, I recover faster from workouts & runs, and overall my body “feels” better. By the time we become adults, we know these things but it’s when you choose to start LIVING this lifestyle that you truly KNOW them.

#FitFriday – Drink Your H2O

One of my goals of #FitFriday is to help give you tools for a well-rounded fit or healthy lifestyle.  So, today we’re going to touch on drinking water!  While I know that drinking a lot is really good for you, I’ve always kind of slacked.  I’m not one that actually enjoys the taste (or lack thereof in my opinion) unless it’s right after a hot sweaty run and then it better be ice cold!  But, I know it’s beneficial to my overall health, so I decided this week to give this “half your body weight (in ounces)” thing a try!

Fit Friday – Elliptical Challenge

I’ve decided that I’m going to start something new on my blog! I’m going to start Fit Friday in which I talk about something fitness related or about living a healthy lifestyle! Fitness and a healthy lifestyle is something that I am passionate about, so I figure it’s only fitting! For my first installment, I’m going to share with you a workout that I recently completed for the first time and was pretty sure I was taken to the edge of fitness hell and then brought back! I run on a regular basis (3-5 times a week) and know how important it is to cross train and give my body a rest, but have trouble finding a workout that challenges me and gives me as much of a workout high as running…until now!
