Friday in Franklin County: Country Heritage B&B

Friday in Franklin

I grew up in Hampton and have been back for almost 10 years now.  Throughout my time working there I was lucky enough to get to know several other business people.  Two of those are the owners of Country Heritage Bed & Breakfast. This amazing bed and breakfast is located in rural Franklin County on Highway 3 between Latimer and Hampton.  Donnis and her daughter Lacey are the owners of this quaint historic home and are fantastic at what they do!

Opening the Inn

So, how did they get started into the hospitality business?  The house, in which they run their business, was built by the ancestors.  10 years ago it came up for sale and they decided it was time to bring it back into the family and share it with others!  Obviously it’s a bed and breakfast so patrons can select from nightly stays, extended stays (interns have stayed throughout the summer), and you can even rent the whole house for events.  This is a great place for girls weekends, family reunions, or meeting up with college friends and kids .  Of course, they will provide a delicious, home-cooked breakfast for those who who stay!  When renting the entire house, you and your guests receive access to the kitchen, decks, and fire pit!  You can truly make it your home away from home.

Country Heritage hosts people from all around the United States and even the world.  She says that the thing that surprises people the most about the house is how beautiful and simple the house is.  They are also surprised at how quiet it is “out on the farm”.  It seems to remind a lot of people of the homes they grew up in!

While the patrons of their establishment is the best part of owning this business, owning a business in Franklin County has its perks too including the fact that this is their home.  They love being a part of the community and being a part of community events (like hosting the performers who partake in Tuesdays on the Town in Hampton)!bb collage

The Future of the Inn

What do they hope for the future for the bed & breakfast?  It’s simple, but they hope more and more people continue to take advantage of having a place where they can enjoy family and friends.  They also want to build a barn on the farm for people to enjoy and get the true “farm life” experience!

The house is open year round for stays as well as hosting special events!  Did I mention that they also have a small gift shop on the farm as well?  Make sure to stop into the Giggling Goat while you’re there and find a treasure to take home or you can try one of their dips or bottles of wine!  With all these amenities, you won’t regret a stay at Country Heritage Bed & Breakfast.12923274_1171260612886686_465555027167252147_n
