Grinter Place Museum

Grinter Place Museum

We love visiting historic homes on our travel and the Grinter Place Museum was no different. The home belonged to Moses & Annie Grinter. It holds a lot of history connecting the Delaware Indian Tribe to the Kansas City area. It is owned by the Kansas State Historical Society who tell the story of the Grinters and the Delaware Indians.

Wyandotte County Museum

County Museums are some of my favorite places to visit. The Wyandotte County Museum is so incredibly well done with permanent exhibits about the Kansas City area as well as rotating exhibits with relevant content. When we visited they were celebrating the anniversary of the Wizard of Oz! They have great interactive exhibits for kids, which adults enjoy too!

Agricultural Hall of Fame & Museum

Whether you have kids or want to feel like a kid again, the best place to do that is at the Agricultural Hall of Fame & Museum. From the implement museum, to the gardens, and the historic village, you’ll have an amazing time roaming the buildings and grounds. They also have traveling displays that change frequently. Make sure to take a hay ride as well as a ride on their train!

Legends Outlet

Named after notable people in Kansas’ history. You’ll enjoy amazing shops and restaurants, but the grounds are beautiful with their sculptures, fountains, and murals. It’s a great place to stroll, enjoy patio seating, and people watch!

Kaw Point Park

Kaw Point Park is a great place to spend some time enjoying nature in the middle of Kansas City. The park is located at the confluence of of the Kansas & Missouri River. There are several trails to explore and an amphitheater. Enjoy the walk of flags, which is a dedication to the Native American tribes in the area.

Huron Indian Cemetery

Located adjacent to downtown Kansas City, Kansas, you’ll find the Huron Indian Cemetery. Many years ago, 10 different Native American tribes were dropped in the area by ship and only 5 remain today. Here you’ll find the graves of several Natives important to the history of the area. You’ll also find graves of Civil War soldiers as well. They were on their way to Fort Leavenworth, became ill, and died.

Hollywood Casino & Turn 2 Restaurant

Whether you’re visiting with kids or not, Hollywood Casino & Turn 2 Restaurant is great for everyone! The view from the restaurant of the Kansas City Speedway is great place to watch the sun set. The food is delicious of course! Make sure to take time to browse through the restaurant and enjoy the décor which is made up a large variety of celebrity items is fun to browse!

Arthur Bryant Barbeque

No visit to Kansas City is complete without enjoying some barbecue and one of the classics in the area is Arthur Bryant’s. They offer all the classic smoked meats along with great sides like potato salads and onion rings. My personal recommendation is the ribs & onion rings.

Amazing authentic Italian food in Kansas City? Yup, you heard me right! Italian Delight is a family owned restaurant that’s pumping out the very best Italian you’ll probably find this side of the Mississippi. The family moved to Kansas City from Brooklyn, so you know it’s the real deal! You can’t go wrong with any of their salads, pasta plates, sandwiches, pizza, or more, but you have to finish your meal with a fresh cannoli!

Your visit to Kansas City, Kansas, will be jam packed, so you will need a great place to rest at night! Of course, like most metropolitan areas, Kansas City offers a large variety of hotels. We recommend Homewood Suites just off Parallel Parkway near the Kansas Speedway. The large suites provide plenty of space to spread out. They offer a hot breakfast that helps you start your day in the best way. It’s location is great for access to all attractions!
