#TastyTuesday – Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp, yum! It’s that time of year that we all loved baked goods! It fills our belly and makes us feel better when we think about how cold it is! The holidays evoke something in us that tell us we want baked sweets!

This past weekend we celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday! It was chili & cinnamon rolls at our house for game night! T asked me what I was making for his birthday cake and I said, APPLE CRISP! I know my dad and my dad loves apple crisp! If his choice is between those and chocolate cake, he’ll take the crisp, so it’s only fitting that I make crisp to celebrate his birthday! I went to my recipe box and grabbed the recipe that was my Grandma P’s. Now, I’m sure there isn’t much variance in the world of apple crisp, but I love it too so I figured it would be a good feature here on #TastyTuesday!Grandma P’s

In a greased pan (I use a 9×9 because I like it “thicker”!) place your diced apples (I used apples from the farm that I had frozen), sprinkle with flour, cinnamon, and sugar.  The amount you use for sugar & cinnamon is completely up to your preference.  I like a lot of cinnamon, so I’m very generous with it and used about a 1/2 cup of sugar.  For the flour I used about a 1/4 cup because I don’t like watery crisp…I like it gooey!  Mix those all together in your pan.  Then, in a separate bowl, melt your butter and add the remaining ingredients and fully mix until all is slightly moist. Spread your crisp topping over the apples and pop it into a preheated oven of 350 degrees.  I baked mine for about 25 minutes, but until it’s bubbly around the edges is what you are aiming for!  Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
